Episode 31: The Present Moment Experience
This week I am joined by Valerie Richie the founder of the Vibrant Life Collective. This on-line yoga community is dedicated to Black Women and Women of Color, who want to replenish their souls through yoga and meditation. To Valerie, yoga is a gateway to self-discovery, growth and pursuing passions. It connects our minds, bodies and spirits and is a tool on our journey to figuring out our infinite potential. In our chat Valerie walks us through a basic understanding of yoga and the way it builds our strength, flexibility and balance on a gross muscle level as well as internally. We also explore the benefits of meditation and mindfulness and how valuable it is when we bring our minds and bodies to the present moments. Valerie reminds us that wellness is a necessity and not a luxury, and that it's a radical act of self-preservation, care and love.

Valerie Ritchie is the founder of the Vibrant Life Collective. An on-line yoga community dedicated to black women and women of color, who want to replenish their souls through yoga and meditation. Valerie believes that wellness for women of color is a necessity, not a luxury. It’s a radical act of self-preservation, care and love.
She is passionate about empowering others so that they can, embrace their yoga practice on and off of the mat. She started yoga, over 20 years ago, after leaving a corporate job that left her physically and emotionally drained. She began to practice yoga, felt the benefits of the practice, and was hooked.
After almost a decade of personal practice, she decided to get certified to teach. She currently has her 200Hr YTT certification with Yoga Alliance and is pursuing her 500hr YTT certification. Her primary interests are asana, yoga psychology, the chakras, meditation, mindfulness, and overcoming trauma with yoga. Her intention as a teacher is to encourage and support self-discovery through yoga. She teaches in person and on-line classes, workshops and retreats emphasizing the connection between modern life and the ancient practice of yoga.
When Valerie is not on her yoga mat or managing her businesses, she can be found hanging out with with her lucky husband and precious son in Canada.
