In this week's episode I am joined by Nikisha Watson. Nikisha is a Trinidadian born actuary, author and blogger, living in the UK with her husband, three children and their dog. In addition to discussing her wildly popular blogs and videos on mom life, we discussed her books that take readers on exciting journeys through Trinidad and Tobago and explore places of interest, food, animals and culture. Nikisha is on a mission to spread the message of embracing cultural diversity to children around the world and joining the movement to introduce more diverse characters into Children's literature.

Nikisha Watson is a Trinidadian born actuary, author and blogger, living in the UK with her husband, three children and their dog.
Following the success of her social media blog 'ThisIsRealMama' she turned her passion for writing and desire to educate her and other little ones into a series of educational children's books. Her self publishes her books under her company brand ABCulture.
The first of her ABCulture Collection of books entitled 'Alphabet Adventure in Trinidad and Tobago' takes the reader on an exciting journey through her own country, Trinidad and Tobago exploring the places of interest, food, animals and culture of these islands for each letter of the alphabet. The Trinidad and Tobago themes books are series of three books. The most recently published is called Counting Adventure in Trinidad and Tobago and the third will be published in 2021.
The ABCulture Collection of books also includes Rainbow Like Me. This book is a passion project done by Nikisha and her fourteen-year-old son who did the illustrations. It aims to teach children the colours of the rainbow while introducing the idea of beauty in the skin colour rainbow and smashing gender stereotypes at the same time. This is done through the use of characters form a variety of ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
As a Trinidadian mother raising English children with a love and admiration for her own culture, it’s important to Nikisha that her children understand not only her ancestry, but that of others all over this beautiful planet.
She is on a mission to spread this message of embracing cultural diversity to other children around the world and joining the movement to introduce more diverse characters into Children’s literature.
When she isn’t writing books and blogging, she enjoys family activities, preferably outdoors and attempting to improve her fitness by running.
